I've been eating here all my life it's a great place for a quick bite to eat.

The staff is friendly and fun to talk with. The food was great and service even better.

I love this place to death. Great taste and over all a spot to grab a quick bite..... But I would appreciate gloves on when making my dog. I havnt gotten sick but I keep going back because they do a great job at their craft.

Good hot dogs and chili dogs, but bad neighborhood, and the only seating is at a picnic table in front of a neighbor's house. If you're white, expect to get harassed by the locals for money or more. Just get it to go and all is well.

I've been to FJ's about 500 times since 1972, always,always on the money. If you don't like Fat Johnnie's, you don't like food. Chili dog with onions and mustard on the bottom. I know I've had 700 of those babies! 😊❤❤

Fantastic! We ordered the chili dog with the works and every bite was bursting with complementing flavors. The peppers on top add a unique component that sets it apart from any other chili dog that we tried during our stay in Chicago. Special call out to the seasoned cucumber--I could eat a plate of those all on their own. Not only was the chili dog delicious, but Fat Johnnie was so kind and welcoming. I told him I was visiting and heard he was the best and asked what I should order. He said, "Get her the chili dog with the works!"Fat Johnnie's was such an awesome experience that we will be making another stop before we leave to go back home. And for a short four day visit, that says a lot!

He's been there for many, many years. His drink menu changed, no more major brand soft drinks. Last time I was there, it was his birthday. He was training a young couple. He sat back while they did the work. It made me think that maybe he was retiring. The hot dog I got wasn't as good as it used to be. Tasted different, less amount of eve on it, also no more pickles. Haven't been back since, passing by quite often, not open for business all day like it used to be.

One of the best lunches I've eaten in recent memory. We had an Italian sausage sandwich, a Bangkok sandwich and chili cheese tater tots. Enough to satisfy two very hungry guys. The Hawaiian bread hot dog buns are to die for, the portions are generous, and the shady beer garden is very comfortable. Great chili, crispy tots, delicious sausage that is amply cheesed. I enjoyed this more than the very good Wurst beer garden in the Arts District.

Always the best. I have been going there for 40 years. It doesn't look like much from the outside. But the food that comes out of there is always good. A staple of the Southside.

Ignore the exterior. Yes, it looks like a semi run down shack. This is unimportant. They've got good dogs/polishes with a variety of toppings. You get cucumber instead of pickles. It was really tasty. One of the best dogs in the city.
